Creating the digital twin of the system
The digital twin provides the basis for configuring the Amperecloud Log and must be created in advance. Carry out this step carefully. If the twin is created incorrectly, this will inevitably lead to non-functioning communication between the Amperecloud Log and the devices.
Step 1 - Creating the Facility
Navigate to the Amperecloud Platform master display. You can create a new system by clicking on the "New Facility" button in the bottom right-hand corner.
Fill in the fields "Name" and "Rated power".
Step 2 - Creating a data logger in the digital twin
You are now in the Facility editor. Click on the "Add device" button in the bottom right-hand corner and select the data logger in the dialog.
Assign at least one name. This should be based on the system name. Finally, click on "Create".
Step 3 - Creating the devices to be read out
Devices to be read out are usually inverters, electricity meters or sensors. This step is the same for all device classes. All devices that are to be read out by an Amperecloud log must be subordinate to it (similar to the folder structure in Windows). To do this, click on the data logger already created in the system editor. Create an inverter in the same way as step 2.
Assign a name and select the most suitable model from the drop-down menu. If your device does not appear in the list, please contact support. Make sure that the settings for device communication match the settings on the inverters.
If the devices are to communicate via RS485, enter the RS485 port (1-3) used on the Amperecloud Log to which the bus cable is connected during installation under "Port". The bus address can usually be set (adjusted) on the device.
⚠ ATTENTION
An incorrectly entered port or incorrectly entered bus addresses are the most common sources of errors in communication, in addition to swapped communication lines.
⚠ ATTENTION
Older inverters from the manufacturer SMA also require the serial number for communication via RS485. The Amperecloud Log specifies the bus addresses for these devices. To do this, enter ascending bus addresses (1-254) for the devices.
Many devices also support network-based communication protocols such as Modbus TCP. To access the communication settings for network-based communication, select the "Network" option. Enter the IP address of the device under "IP". Enter the correct port under "Port". For Modbus TCP, this is usually 502. Enter the device address under "Slave ID". This is not used by all devices. If in doubt, enter "1" here.
⚠ ATTENTION
For network devices, make sure that the IP addresses are assigned statically and are located in the subnet of the LTE router supplied by us. By default, the LTE router has the IP address "192.168.1.1" in the subnet of "255.255.255.0".
Repeat step 3 for all devices to be read out that are located on the system.
If your inverter has MPP trackers, you can add these below the inverters. If there are many inverters with the same number of trackers on your system, it is recommended that you first create all MPP trackers for an inverter and then copy the entire inverter by right-clicking on it. You only need to adjust the names and communication settings for the copied devices and save valuable time.
