1. Default settings
The default settings of the LOG with regard to RS485 communication are based on the default settings of the respective manufacturer, as long as they have not been changed via the extended port configuration in the digital twin.
Set bus address
The bus address must be defined in the digital twin and set accordingly in the inverter.
2. Check cabling
Data cable connections
- Check whether the data cables of the inverters are correctly connected to the Amperecloud LOG:
- A (+): Data cable positive [pin 1]
- B (-): Data cable negative [Pin3]
- Please ensure that the signals are protected against overvoltage (between each other and to ground [pin 2]).
- Check the assignment using the manual for the third-party hardware.
- For further information, read the following article: Connection via RS485
Bus cable and termination
- Termination resistor: Ensure that the termination resistor is set at the last inverter on the bus.
- Continuity: Check that the bus cable is uninterrupted.
3. Check Communication Settings
Compare the settings in the inverter and the digital twin to avoid inconsistencies. Verify the following parameters:
- Bus addresses: Do the bus addresses match?
- Baud rate: Does the baud rate correspond to the standard settings or specific configurations?
- Parity: Is the parity setting correct?
- Connection assignment: Do the physical connections match the specifications? (Is the bus connected to the correct port?)
4. Inverter Firmware
Ensure that the inverter is running the latest firmware. Perform an update if necessary.
