      Fixing VPN problems after installation

      If the VPN isn't functioning as expected despite installation, the following steps can help ensure its functionality:

      1. Check Modbus Requests and Port Forwarding:

        • Ensure that Modbus requests on port 502 are correctly forwarded. Amperecloud activates the Modbus client, which regularly sends requests on this port after the certificate is sent. It's crucial that these requests are successfully forwarded to the data logger or DVM interface.

      2. Verify Network Settings:

        • Check network settings, especially firewall and routing configurations, to ensure that traffic through the VPN is correctly allowed. Sometimes, restrictive firewall rules or incorrect routing configurations can block VPN communication.

      3. Verify Certificate Installation and Configuration:

        • Confirm that the VPN certificate has been correctly installed and configured. Errors in certificate installation can prevent the VPN connection from being established.

      4. Check VPN Connection:

        • Ensure that the VPN connection is active and stable. Check connection status indicators on the VPN client or router to verify that the connection isn't interrupted.

      5. Logging and Diagnostics:

        • Review logs or logs from the VPN client or router to identify any errors or issues. This can help pinpoint specific causes of functionality problems.

      6. Seek Network Technician Support:

        • If issues persist, consider consulting an experienced network technician or IT specialist. They can review and potentially optimize specific network settings to ensure proper VPN communication.
