Control Test with Amperecloud Log

After inverters have been connected to an Amperecloud Log and successfully transmit data to the Amperecloud Platform, an on-site test should be carried out to check whether the inverters respond to commands from the Amperecloud Log. This way, adjustments to the inverter settings can be made immediately if necessary.

Please note that we do not issue binding proof of successful tests for plant control. This must be provided by the grid operator or the direct marketer.

Requirements and Preparations for a Control Test

You can test the controllability of an Amperecloud Log using the methods described below. The correct configuration of the inverters is essential for controllability.

In accordance with VDE-AR-N-4110, it takes about three minutes to reduce the output from 100% to 0%.

After reducing to 0%, the system should no longer generate any power for as long as the control signal is active. Some inverter models cannot be completely shut down due to design and will continue to produce power in the low single-digit percentage range.

Check the result of the control tests using a meter installed in a suitable location or the monitoring in the Amperecloud Platform.

Warning!
Amperecloud accepts no liability for loss of yield or other damages resulting from control tests or the use of the functions provided for this purpose!

Notes:

  • Before carrying out a control test, make sure via monitoring in the Amperecloud Platform that all inverters are transmitting data.

  • The control test is usually carried out with the device designated as "Commander" or "Master".

On-site Control Test at the System

When directly accessing an Amperecloud Log, it can be controlled via the PM terminals, see connection of a radio ripple control receiver (FRSE).

Bridge the desired contacts as if the corresponding relay of the FRSE were switching.

After removing the bridge, the signal returns to its initial state.

Be sure to remove the bridge after the test (switch back to 100%) to prevent yield losses!

Remote Control Test

Via Remote Control Technology (FWT)

If remote control technology is installed, the grid operator can carry out all necessary tests from a distance and receive the results. Direct access by other parties is not intended.

Via Amperecloud Platform

The control of an Amperecloud Log from the Platform is executed via the remote control interface of direct marketing. No direct marketing contract is required for this!

  1. Navigate to the Digital Twin in the "Direct Marketing" section.
  2. Activate direct marketing (see screenshot).
    1. If you have or are planning a direct marketing contract, set your provider.
    2. If no direct marketing is intended, select "Amperecloud #" (where # is the largest available number) only for the duration of the test.
  3. Click on "Advanced".
  4. Enter "1" in the power limit field and click "Save".
  5. Now enter "0" (or another value such as "0.3") in the power limit field and click "Save". (Entering "1" in the previous step ensures a clean display of the time series in monitoring.)
  6. Set a timer for the test duration. We recommend about 15 minutes.
  7. Switch to system monitoring and add the column "Active Power Limitation (DVM)" in the "System" section. A click on the jagged line displays the control signal in the diagram.
  8. Wait until the inverters show the desired reaction in monitoring. In a successful test, as shown in the screenshot, the active power (orange) follows the control signal (blue).
  9. To complete the test, confirm the last entered value again by clicking "Save" and then enter "1" again, which you should also save.
  10. If you temporarily entered "Amperecloud" for the test, delete this entry and deactivate direct marketing again!
  11. If inverters transmitted data but did not respond to the commands, please contact our support. Provide the exact system name, the date and time of the test, as well as the inverter models.

Be sure to reset the limit to 1 (100%) after the test to prevent yield losses!
