Introduction

Necessity of Remote Control Technology & Amperecloud Control

Content

Necessity of Remote Control Technology

The necessity of remote control technology is determined solely by the responsible grid operator. Whether and to what extent remote control technology is required for a plant generally depends on factors such as peak output, voltage level (low/medium/high voltage), age, and operational condition of the plant.

Necessity of Amperecloud Control

Remote control technology within the scope of Amperecloud Control can only be provided if an Amperecloud Log is used as the EZA controller (park controller). This means that the Amperecloud Log determines which generators (inverters) should be controlled based on switching commands from the grid operator or direct marketer, or within the context of a closed control loop for feed-in limitation. This is also the case if an additional data logger or controller is connected, which only forwards commands without modifying them.

Whether Amperecloud Control is required depends on the grid operator’s requirements. It must generally be booked if the requirements go beyond connecting an FRSE to the Amperecloud Log. This is, for example, the case if the Amperecloud Log should transmit feedback or measurement data, or if a connection via Modbus or IEC-60870 is required.

Use of Amperecloud Log and Control with Existing Remote Control Technology

Sometimes an Amperecloud Log is to be used as an EZA controller, and a stakeholder during plant construction may state that remote control technology is already present. Often there is a misunderstanding regarding terminology. The grid operator or third parties do not provide complete remote control technology, but only a remote-control system.
(See Implementation Types of Remote Control Technology).

If a fully functional remote control system with the necessary EZA controller is already installed, please discuss this with your Amperecloud contact.

Consultation on the Necessity of Amperecloud Control

We are happy to advise you whether Amperecloud Control is required for your plant. Please note that for particularly extensive consultation, or in cases where Amperecloud Control is booked unnecessarily through no fault of Amperecloud, consulting fees may apply.
