Basics of Installing Remote Control

Basic Information

The physical connection of the remote-control technology components is described later in this article. Configuration and programming are carried out in advance or remotely by Amperecloud.

Interfaces for Connecting Remote Control Technology

The following interfaces can be used to connect an Amperecloud Log with remote-control components:

  • PM interface

  • RS-485 (Modbus-RTU and IEC-101)

  • ETHERNET (Modbus-TCP and IEC-104)

  • Digital and analog contacts via akYtec IO extension

1. Radio Ripple Control Receiver

See FRSE. Additional connections may need to be established if necessary.

2. RS-485 (Modbus-RTU and IEC-101)

The Amperecloud Log has three RS-485 ports. Port No. 3 should be preferred. The choice of port must be communicated to Amperecloud, as it has to be configured accordingly by Amperecloud. In the case of multiple Amperecloud Logs, the remote-control system must always be connected to the Commander. See Use of Multiple Amperecloud Logs.

General guidance on connecting RS-485 connections can be found on the Log’s Knowledge Base page.

3. ETHERNET (Modbus-TCP and IEC-104)

The Amperecloud Log must be able to communicate freely with the remote-control system within the network. This requires correct configuration of the firewall and other network components, where Amperecloud can only provide support to a limited extent. See Ethernet Topology.

4. Digital and Analog Contacts via akYtec IO Extension

If an akYtec module is supplied by Amperecloud, it is usually connected via RS-485, and rarely via ETHERNET. The above-mentioned information applies here as well.

For connecting the akYtec to the remote-control system, Amperecloud provides a terminal diagram.
